एक गांव में एक अमीर व्यापारी रहता था। जिसका एक बेटा था। जिसक नाम मोहन था। व्यापार के लाड-प्यार से मोहन बिल्कुल निकम्मा हो चुका था। हमेशा उसे मौज मस्ती ही सूझती रहती थी व्यापारी ने अपने बेटे मोहन की शादी करने का फैसला किया ये सोचकर कि वो शादी के बाद सुधर जाएगा। उसको यह लगता था कि शादी के बाद शायद उसका बेटा काम करने लगे लेकिन ऐसा नहीं हुआ। मोहन हमेशा अपनी मटरगश्ती में घूमता रहता था। एक दिन सुनने में आता है। व्यापारी की अचानक मृत्यु हो गई। अब सारे काम का बोझ मोहन के कंधों पर आ चुका था। मोहन को कुछ आता तो था नहीं। जिस कारण से सारा व्यापार घाटे में जाने लग
। दिन ब दिन उस पर कर्जे का बोझ बढ़ता जा रहा था अब लेनदारों का सब्र का बाण टूट चुका था और वे राजना उसके घर पर आकर पैसा वापस करना की धामी देने लगे । हमेशा मोहन उनकी बातों को नज़र अंदाज कर दिया करता था। एक दिन सभी व्यापारियों ने मोहन को घेर लिए और उससे पैसे मांगने लगे । मोहन ने कहा के आपके पैसे जल्दी लोटा दूंगा मुझे कुछ समय की मोहलत दो उनमे से एक व्यापारी आगे आया जिसने सबसे ज्यादा पैसे कर्ज पर दिए हुए थे। उसने मोहन का गिरिबान पकड़ा और बोलै नाटक बंद कर अपना जल्दी मेरे पसे निकाल, वार्ना तुझे मार दूंगा, उनमे से एक व्यापारी बोलै जो मोहन के पिता का पुराना दोस्त था उसने कहा के मरने से कुछ नहीं होगा, जरा इसकी बात सुनते है के ाखि मामला क्या है, मोहन को तोड़ी शर्म आई और उसने बोलै के में अभी तुम लोगो का कर्जा चुकता करता हुआ, चलो मेरे साथ नदी किनारे मेने वहां खजाना छिपाया हुआ है, सभी लोग उसके पीछे चल दिए।
कनारे के पास पोछने के बाद, मोहन ने सबसे खा के तुम लोग यही रुको में अभी खजाना लेकर आता हु सभी व्यापारी उसके बात मनके व्ही खड़े रहे, मोहन नदी में थोड़ा आगे गया और उसने नदी में डूबकी लगा दी और बेहटा हुआ बोलै के भाइयो अब तुम लोगो का पैसा अगले जनम में ही चुकता करूँगा अगले जनम में अपना हिसाब लेकर आजाना। ये सुनकर सभी व्यापारी सर पीटने लगे और थक हार के वापस अपने घर चले गए।
मोहन ने आत्महत्या करने की कोशिश की थी . ताकि वो रोज रोज के सिर दर्द से छुटकारा पा सके मगर वैसे लोगों में से नहीं था जो अपना जीवन ऐसे ही न्योछावर कर दे वो मौज मस्ती करने वाला इंसान था ,जब वो नदी के काफी दूर आज्ञा तो डूबने लगा, और बचाओ बचाओ चिल्लाने लगा, तभी पास के जंगल से एक स्वर्ण हिरण को उसकी आवाज सुनाई दी वो हिरन एक बुद्धिमान हिरण था, जो मोहन की आवाज पर नदी की और भागा और उसको बचाया, होश में आने बाद मोहन ने हिरण का शुक्रिया अदा किया और बोले के में तुम्हारा एहसान कैसे चुकाऊंगा, हिरण ने उससे कहा के तुम मेरे बारे में किसी को मत बताना, मोहन ने उसे वचन दिया के वो किसी को नहीं बताएगा।
अब मोहन पास के एक राज्य में रहने लगा था, वहां पर एक राजा और रानी का राजा था, एक दिन रानी में अपने सपने में उस स्वर्ण हिरण को देखा, तो उसने ये बात राजा को बताई और उससे पूछा के क्या सच में ऐसा हरण होता है, राजा ने उससे कहा के मेने सुना है के ऐसा हिरन सच में होते है मगर मैंने कभी भी उन्हें अपनी आँखों से नहीं देखा। राजा ने कहा के में तुम्हारे लिए उस हिरन की तलाश करा सकता हु, राजा ने अगले दिन सभी सिपाही को आदेश दिया उस हिरन को ढूंढ निकलने के लिए और पुरे राज्ये में ये सुचना दी के हिरन के बारे में बताने वाले को बड़ा इनाम मिलेगा।
इनाम के बारे में सुनते ही मोहन का मक्कार इंसान जगह गया, अपने लालच में उसने हिरण को दिया हुआ वचन भूल गया और राजा को सब बता दिया, राजा अपने सिपाही को लेकर मोहन के साथ चल दिए, और वह उन्हें नदी के पास ले गया, सरे सिपाही वहां छानबीन करने लगे, तभी हिरण ने उनका शोर सुना और खुद बहार आ गया, आरा उसे देखते ही अपने घुटनों पर बैठ गया। हिरन से राजा से पुछा के तुम ये क्या कर रहे हो. राजा बोलै हम आपको ही ढूंढ रहे है, हिरण ने राजा से पूछा कि तुम्हें मेरे बारे में किसने बताया, राजा ने मोहन का नाम लेते हुए खा के ये हमे यहां लेकर आया है, हिरण को ये सुनकर बहुत गुस्सा आया और मोहन की सारी मक्कारी के बारे में राजा को बताया और उसके धोखे के बारे में भी, ये सुनकर राजा को गुस्सा आया और वो मोहन को मारने पर उतारू हो गया। तभी हिरन ने उससे छोड़ने को कहा के, और बोलै के इसपर कभी भरोसा मत करना,
राजा ने हिरण को अपने महल में चले के लिए प्रार्थना की, हिरन ने कहा में एक शर्त पर तुम्हारे महल में चलूँगा, तुम अपने राज्य में जीव हत्या बंद कर देंगे, राजा ने हिरण की शर्त मान ली।
हिरन जब महल में पोछा तो सभी लोग अपने घुटने पर बैठकर उसका स्वागत करने लगे. और वो सबको अछि अछि बाते बताने लगा, इधर मोहन को कोई इनाम नहीं मिला।
सीख : इस कहानी से यह सीख मिलती है। धोखेबाज को. अपमान ही मिलता है। इंसान को काम सीखना चाहिए। क्योंकि नाकाम व्यक्ति अपना ही जीवन नष्ट करता है।

Told the king about Mohan and also about his deception, the king got angry on hearing this and he was determined to kill Mohan. That's why the deer asked him to leave, and said never trust it,
The king prayed for the deer to go to his palace, the deer said, I will go to your palace on one condition, you will stop killing animals in your kingdom, the king accepted the deer's condition.
When the deer entered the palace, all the people started welcoming him by sitting on their knees. And he started telling good things to everyone, whereas Mohan did not get any reward.
